Frappuccino To Go

Off The Calorie Scale

The World Cancer Research Fund has identified that some iced coffees being sold on the High Street contain as many calories as a hot dinner. The chief offender had 561 calories, others contained more than 450, and the majority had in excess of 200. Starbucks’ Dark Berry Mocha Frappuccino, [Venti] contains 561 calories according to the WCRF. It is the combination of sugar, full-fat milk and cream which appears to push some of the “cool coffees” into the upper echelons of the calorie scale.

After Smoking, Obesity Produces Greatest Risk of Cancer

Macmillan, the Cancer Support Charity, reports that 1 in 3 of us will contract cancer at some point in our lives. This shocking statistic should make us all stop and consider how we look after ourselves. But we can suffer from “caution overload” – there can appear to be a health risk with so much that we find enjoyable in life: most of us would think that a Latte was pretty harmless. But Dr Rachel Thompson, Science Programme Manager for WCRF, advises that “after not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight is the most important thing we can do to help prevent cancer”.

One Iced Coffee Can Provide 25% of A Woman’s Daily Calorie Requirement

Dr Rachel Thompson, Science Programme Manager for WCRF, said: “The fact that there is an iced coffee on the market with over a quarter of a woman’s daily calorie allowance is alarming. This is the amount of calories you might expect to have in an evening meal, not in a drink”.

Lean - The Way To Be

The WCRF suggests people should become as lean as possible without being underweight. Earlier this year it estimated that 19,000 cancers a year in the UK could be prevented if people lost their excess weight.

Keep It Balanced: Keep Yourself Healthy

At Yin Yang Skincare the central philosophy for our product formulations is balance: all products are perfectly balanced for the correct pH value of a woman’s skin, while the protein and fat content is varied according to life stage. And because we take a holistic approach to Skincare we advise that having beautiful healthy skin is not just about the daily skincare routine – but equally that the condition of the skin is influenced by a person’s lifestyle with all its implications for overall health. A good diet is critical for good health and while watching calories is one guide to keeping our weight in check it is even more important to ensure that the calories we do consume provide our bodies with the nutrients required to keep us healthy.  A frappuccino may have as many calories as an evening meal but it will fall very short on essential vitamins, minerals and proteins!
